In Tver, in the берегу Volga, in 1955 was a monument to the famous Russian traveler and discoverer of India Athanasius Nikitin. The monument was built on a large observation platform designed by architects G.A.Zaharova, S.M.Orlova and A.P.Zavalova.

The oval-shaped platform on which the monument is made in the form of boat, the nose of which is decorated with the ship's figure, made in the form of a horse's head. Athanasius Nikitin himself is depicted in motion. In his hand was a laissez-passer of Prince Michael of Tver.
